How To See Invisible YM Users using Linux

Yahoo messenger from Yahoo! is one of the most commonly installed messenger on windows-based desktop systems, besides from MSN messenger, which comes as a default windows messenger from windows OS.

In Linux world, there are variety of all around chat/voice messengers available. From the default GNOME GAIM messenger, now known as Pidgin, there's also Kopete from KDE community. Another emerging and promising community-based messenger software is Gyach-E Improved (Gyache). Gyachi is GPLed, which basically means it is free.

This Yahoo! client for Linux OS supports almost all of the features the official windows Yahoo! messenger client can offer. Here are several of those YM features


  • Voice chat,

  • webcams,

  • faders

  • nicknames

  • audibles

  • avatars

  • display images, and more.


Yet, it remains very light-weight and memory-friendly. GyachE supports multiple plugin like xmms, themes, photo album sharing, notification plugin, sounds plugin and lot more. GyachE Improved uses Gtk-2 for its user interfaces (Gtk-2 2.0.6 or better required).

How to install Gyachi in Fedora / CentOS ?

Gyachi exists in one of Fedora repos. Install it by

# yum -y install gyachi*

Once installed, go to setup mode and configure your Yahoo! messenger account.

After successful instalation, Gyache can now show you invincible and online Yahoo messenger users, so you can see all connected invincible YM users that you have from your YM contacts list.
