KNode is the newsready component of Kontact, the integrated personal information manager of KDE.
KNode is an easy-to-use, convenient flexible and simple newsreader. KNode is part of KDE component. KNode is intended to allow even newbies to use a newsreader under KDE, but it also offers advanced features appealing to experienced users. KNode is an online-reader but could work together with a newsserver like leafnode as an offline-reader.

KNode Installation on Fedora
KNode is part of KDEPim which is comprised of several KDE applications. To install
# yum -y install kdepim
KNode would be located under Applications > Internet > Knode
Launching KNode
# knode
Setup and Configure KNode
Launch Knode
Click Settings and select Configure KNode
Inside KNode settings, go to Accounts and click Add to add a new news server. Fill up the required fields
a. new server
b. port (default 119)
c. authentication details (optional - username, password)
d. other KNode options
Close and exit. You can optionally fill up the Identity menu above Accounts Menu from where you create your new News Account. Hit fetch all buttons to retrieve all the news item from your news server.
KNode can also be used to connect and retrieve news items from publicly available usenet news server or even known commercial news media station around your city.
