HowTo: Liferea - RSS/RDF Feed Reader

Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is an aggregator for online news feeds. There are many other news readers available, but these others are not available for Linux or require many extra libraries to be installed. Liferea tries to fill this gap by creating a fast, easy to use, easy to install news aggregator for Gtk/Gnome.

Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is an RSS/RDF feed reader. It's intended to be a clone of the Windows-only FeedReader. It can be used to maintain a list of subscribed feeds, browse through their items, and show their contents. If you wish to read more of its software reviews, go here.

This nice Liferea feed reader is available in many linux distros namely, Fedora, Gentoo, Mandriva, RedHat, Sude, Debian, Ubuntu. This news and rss reader is also available in other UNIX derivatives like FreeBSD and Solaris.

INSTALLATION

Liferea is available from Fedora repo. To install, simply use yum to fetch the needed dependencies like so

# yum -y install liferea

Liferea news feed reader comes as simple as it is. However, liferea feed reader still lacks a few advanced RSS feed reader features though it works fast on fetching RSS feeds.
