HowTo: Adobe Flash Player on Fedora 8

Here's a two-step Adobe Flash Player installation on Fedora 8 box.

From an old blog entry here of installing Adobe Flash Player from Fedora Core 6, here's a quick entry on how to install the latest Adobe Flash player on Fedora 8.

If you are using a non-Fedora distro, simply visit this site to download your corresponding installer package. And for Fedora 8 users, proceed below with caution.

Adobe Flash Player Installation

Install latest flash player from Adobe site using linux rpm package like so

Step 1.
# rpm -ivh http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/flash-plugin-9.0.115.0-release.i386.rpm

Step 2.
If you are using the default Fedora 8 mozilla browser, simply restart firefox and you are good to go. If not, create a soft link for your firefox version like so

# cd /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.10/plugins
# ln -s /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so

Then finally restart firefox.
